Revelation 21 Devotions by Lindsey Whyde

Revelation 21

In Revelation 21:1, John tells us there will be no sea. Throughout Revelation 21, there's this running list of all the things that were in the old earth that won't be anymore when it passes away. My mind sometimes flips through all the Scriptures when I hear particular words, and I begin to recall other passages with that specific word. When I read the word sea, I was reminded of James 1:6 and of one more thing that will pass away with the first earth.

"…for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind."

Friends, when God comes back, when eternity with Him begins, WE WON'T DOUBT ever again. That question as old as time, "Did God really say?" will never ever cross our minds again. James says doubting will make us double-minded and unstable. We won't have that problem anymore! We will be resting on the firm, solid foundation of God's fulfilled promises. What a gift! There will be no evil one to make us second-guess, there will be no reading Scripture wondering if it really means "XYZ," and there will be no struggle with faith. We will be living life with full confidence in God.

If you find yourself struggling with doubt, often find comfort in Revelation 21, find advice in James 1, know you are not the only one who doubts, and then say goodbye to the sea of doubt forever!
