Isaiah 46 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Isaiah 46:3,4

"Listen to me, descendants of Jacob, all you who remain in Israel. I have cared for you since you were born. Yes, I carried you before you were born. I will be your God throughout your lifetime— until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”

This promise God made was not just for people long ago but for you and me today! I love how God starts it off with "Listen to Me." He is wanting their attention and ours! He is saying, “Don't listen to the lies of the enemy, the deceits of the day, or the lusts of the flesh, but listen to Me, your Father, your Creator, your God who will carry you through!” Thank You, Lord!

These verses help encourage us by pointing us to the power, might, majesty, sovereignty, and heart of our God! He created us, He cares for us, and He carries us more than we even realize. How beautiful is His heart for His people! This life is heavy, the days can drag on and beat us down, but God says we don't have to go through it alone. He says we don't have to rely on our strength but rest in His. He wants us to cast everything upon Him because He cares for us and because He can handle it.

We too often try to carry things we were never intended to carry. Look around at the world today. Who can carry the burdens it's placing upon people? Who can make sense of the tragedies and travesties carried out daily? If we try to handle these things on our own, we will be crushed by the weight of them, but our God can and will carry us through. But we must lay it down at His feet and stop trying to carry it all ourselves. Jesus didn't tell us to carry our own lives but rather to lay them down at His feet and carry our cross instead!

Matthew 16:24,25- Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.”

God bless! I love you all, but His love will carry us through! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
