Proverbs 8 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Proverbs 8:1-4

Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud: “To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind.”

God wants our attention, and He deserves it! How gracious and merciful of our God to pursue us. How powerful, yet humble He must be to chase someone like me. He has seen it all, He has been there before I acknowledged Him, and He will be here long after I’m gone, and yet He still not only welcomes me but pursues me. And He will do the same for you!

Wisdom, as mentioned here in the Proverb, is a personification of God, so what this is really saying is that God calls out. He makes Himself available and is not hidden from us. He does not hide in some far-off mystical place but literally is right here among us and willing to save and share Himself with us. He is amazing, isn’t He? This wisdom that He offers is a part of who He is; He doesn’t have to go to someone else to get it, nor does He need to be taught it. He is wisdom from on High; He is perfect and pure wisdom, lacking nothing and completely whole!

It amazes me that He offers us this wisdom, this chance to be filled with Him. Who am I that I may be filled with His Spirit and covered by His Son’s perfect blood? Who am I that You, my King, would give your perfect life to save my tainted and tarnished one? Who am I that You, the God of all creation, would die for the ones who defiled it? You, my God, are more than words can express, and I am who you say I am; I am yours!

Are you His? He is calling out today; be aware that He is available!

Isaiah 55:6- Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.

God bless! I love you all, but His love literally broke the grave and paved the way to Heaven! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!

Proverbs 8:22,23

“The LORD brought me forth as the first of His works, before His deeds of old; I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be.”

Can we marvel at the bigness and greatness of our God today? This is part of a passage about wisdom and how wisdom came to be. It occurred to me that wisdom didn’t form or influence God but that God formed and influenced wisdom. God isn’t a product of wisdom but wisdom is a product of God! It’s an amazing truth, and one I often over look.

For God to create wisdom, He would have to be more than wisdom: more powerful, more insightful, more valuable, more intellectual, even more than we can even fathom or understand. It amazes me how big our God is. I’m in awe of You, LORD! You are worthy of all praise and deepest devotion!

These verses help us to see just how BIG He is, and yet in remembering the birth of Christ, we celebrate how small He made Himself to be in order to come to save us! Only the infinite Creator could come in an infant body to save all who would turn their lives over to Him! He is so much more than we deserve, and yet readily available to each one of us.

So today, as we face what seems to be insurmountable odds and unclimbable mountains, let us remember that our God formed everything good and then took the form of a babe boy to come and save the world! Thank You, Jesus!

Romans 8:3- The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent His own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving His Son as a sacrifice for our sins.

God bless! I love you all, but His love came from Heaven that we may go to Heaven with Him! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!

Proverbs 8:27-29

"I was there when He set the heavens in place, when He marked out the horizon on the face of the deep, when He established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep, when He gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep His command, and when He marked out the foundations of the earth."

These verses speak about just how big, awesome and powerful our God is! They speak of Him doing things we can only dream about, things we can't truly grasp or understand because He is so much more than we are. This helps show us just how awesome and mighty He is but do we trust Him? Do we trust the One who set the Heavens in place to be there in our time of need? At His word, the world was created but do we trust Him to keep the promises found in His written word? We trust the earth He placed under our feet to be there, but do we trust the One who put it there also? Maybe we think He is too big to care or maybe too busy to have time for us? My friends, this just isn't so.

The same God who created this world and all that is in it is the same God inviting you into His Presence today. He wants a deep and intimate relationship with each one of us. He wants us to know and be known by Him. We must trust that the God who brought forth light with a command will bring forth our deliverance in the adversities we face. He cares, He loves, He is all-powerful, and He wants to be our Father and for us to be His children. God may be huge and all-powerful, able to create a universe with only His voice, but He wants to create something more than that with us. A love relationship through Jesus Christ, one that will last forever and will never run dry.

So today, let's trust Him with everything and remember that it was God's choice to create us and die for us. That He knew what the price was before He ever had to pay it and did it willingly! Be encouraged in who He is and Who's you are today! He is worthy! Thank You, Jesus!

Revelation 13:8- All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb's book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.

Job 25:2,3- "Dominion and awe belong to God; He establishes order in the heights of heaven. Can His forces be numbered? On whom does His light not rise?”

God bless! I love you all, but His love paid the price in full! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
