Psalm 32:3,4
When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Interlude
Have you ever felt the way David felt here in this psalm? Clinging so tightly to your sin and refusing to repent that it physically affected you? I have. I think of the season of addiction and sexual immorality in my life. How I clung so tightly to them, thinking that one day I would find relief in them when all the while my Healer was waiting with outstretched arms.
Confessing and repenting of our sins doesn't cause us harm but actually brings us freedom. The world will tell you the opposite, it tells us to handle things on our own and never admit when we are wrong. To show weakness in this area makes you less-than – but not in Christ's Kingdom. In His Kingdom, to admit your faults is not a weakness but a strength. In admitting them and turning from them, you are in essence surrendering them to Christ and His strength, thus taking you from a point of weakness and shame to a place of strength and healing in Him. David spent many days holding onto this sin, yet as soon as he lets go and turns back to God, look what happens:
Psalm 32:5- Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, "I will confess my rebellion to the LORD." And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Interlude
In an instant, it was gone! All of it washed away by our God! David found freedom in the confession and repentance, and so will we. Jesus already knows and still loves and wants you and me! His love is not flawed and faulty as ours is but perfect and eternal as He is! So today, what are you holding onto that God is calling for you to let go of and turn back to Him? Will we do it, or do we like wasting away in our sins? Redemption is near, but it is not forced; we must make the choice today!
Deuteronomy 30:19,20- "Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the LORD your God, obeying Him, and committing yourself firmly to Him. This is the key to your life. And if you love and obey the LORD, you will live long in the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."
God bless! I love you all, but His love gives us the chance to choose! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
