Ecclesiastes 2:10,11
I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my labor, and this was the reward for all my toil. Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.
In our world where more is better, the writer of Ecclesiastes is teaching us an important truth. He is teaching us that though he had everything a man could desire, he, in fact, had nothing at all in those things. In the verses prior to these, he names some things he accomplished or acquired: money, power, land, stature/position, women, stuff, etc., and yet he says it’s all meaningless. That none of this stuff truly matters, and all of it will leave you as empty as it found you.
We, too, must grasp this truth and hold fast to it. For our world tells us that the more money, power, and sex you have, the more important you will be and the better you will feel. But the truth is those things only take from you and can’t fill that void that is inside you. Only God can do that, and be encouraged, because He is willing and wanting to fill you up!
We are all born with a God-sized hole in our hearts; we may call it this or that, but in reality, it is a hole that only the LORD can fill. We were made for Him, and when we’re not His, our heart, our soul, our very life cries out from inside for the Living God. We often mistake this for something else and then seek human ways to fill what only God can. But thanks be to God who gives us the victory and fullness in Jesus Christ.
My heart and life were once empty and void of purpose, but now, they are full of Him and all that He is. He desires to do this for each one of us, and He is desiring to do it this day! So today, will you give Him that hole inside of you and watch Him fill it with the greatest Treasure from Heaven, a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?
Joshua 1:5- No one shall stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so will I be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.
That is a promise God made Joshua, and He will make it to you as well if you are willing to surrender to Christ as your Lord and Savior. Will you embrace the offer?
God bless! I love you all, but His love far outweighs this world and sets the captives free. Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
