Isaiah 10 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Isaiah 10:1,2

“Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless.”

These verses speak of the perversion of God’s commands and decrees. Our God tells us to take care of those less fortunate than us, those who can’t stand up for themselves, like the orphan and the widow. He calls for us to act justly and fairly, as He does, not perverting justice for our own gain.

Our God has done this for us on the grandest of scales in Jesus Christ, but are we following in His footsteps? Are we a people who gives when it’s not fair? Forgives even when it hurts? Does what is right even when it costs us more? If we’re not, then we’re missing the point; our job is to give God glory by obeying Him and sharing Christ with those around us. A lifestyle of worship that is not just a couple of songs on Sunday but a daily carrying of our cross and laying down of our wills. It’s not easy, nor is it going to come naturally, but it is necessary and will come to be more normal as we walk in Him!

The very next verse poses a very serious question that each one must ask if we are going to reject the way God has called us to live:

Isaiah 10:3- “What will you do on the day of reckoning, when disaster comes from afar? To whom will you run for help? Where will you leave your riches?”

What will we do on that day? To whom can we run that can shield us from the Living God? The riches that we sinned so desperately to obtain will not guard us on the day of judgment but rather condemn us. But glory to God, because there is One who can both shield and save on that day! His name is Jesus Christ! He is our hope, our life, our forgiveness, our everything. He is waiting for you today. Are you willing to take His hand?

Luke 5:31,32- Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

God bless! I love you all, but His love leads the way home! Praise, glory, and honor to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
