Isaiah 22 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Isaiah 22:8-11

The Lord stripped away the defenses of Judah, and you looked in that day to the weapons in the Palace of the Forest. You saw that the walls of the City of David were broken through in many places; you stored up water in the Lower Pool. You counted the buildings in Jerusalem and tore down houses to strengthen the wall. You built a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the Old Pool, but you did not look to the One who made it, or have regard for the One who planned it long ago.

Like Jerusalem, I, too, have failed in this way. Forgive me, Lord, and lead me in You always! They had very real problems, very real concerns, and yet they didn’t look to the very real God but to their own understanding and strength for the answers. I have found myself in this situation before, facing something that seems insurmountable, and to me, it is, but not to my God. He is more than willing and able to handle anything that comes my way, but am I willing to take it to Him? Or do I continue to try to find human ways to try to fix what ails and assails me?

We must never forget that there is a God in Heaven who still moves on the earth! We must hold fast to this truth and share it with the world around us. So many people are looking for the answers, and we know and are known by the Answer, Jesus Christ! We’re never going to get it all together or have it all figured out, but we can grow each day a little closer to Him and a little more like Him. Imagine what the world would be like if every disciple of Christ took one step closer to Him each day. Think about the changes we would see, both in our lives and the lives of those around us. He is the change that we so desperately need and the only Source of it! He is our Deliverer, our Provider, our Defender, and He is our hope, peace, strength, and victory both now and forevermore! Praise His Holy name!

Proverbs 3:5,6- Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

God bless! I love you all, but His love leads us by the hand for His glory and our good! Praise, glory, and honor to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
