Isaiah 7 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Isaiah 7:14

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Matthew 1:22,23- All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

This walk with the Lord requires both faith and patience. We must trust that He knows best and that His timing is always perfect. The first verse is the Lord speaking through the prophet Isaiah and was given about 700 years before the birth of Christ and the ultimate fulfillment of this prophecy! Imagine that, waiting 700 years to see that prophetic word come to its fullest fruition. To us, that seems long overdue, but to God, it’s right on time!

We, too, must remember that in our own lives. That He is moving and He is working, but He isn’t doing it by our faulty standards or timelines. He has in mind His Heavenly timeline, and it is perfect. In my own life, I fail at this often, expecting things to move at my speed instead of His; forgive me, Lord, for this and help me to trust that You are always on time.

Since this past Sunday, I have felt a little off, a little unsettled at times, and a bit more edgy. In my flesh, I want this to end right now, and I want to go back to where I was before. My heart longs to feel the Lord’s Presence as I’m used to and not feel so distant. And I know as much as I want this, God wants it more, and in His timing, that’s where I will be. But I must wait on His timing and follow His leading through this, for He knows what I can’t see. Maybe this is a time of refinement preparing me for the next season, or maybe it’s a testing of my faith to see if my heart will stay true, or maybe there is some sin in my life my God is dealing with me on, or maybe it’s an attack of the enemy, and my God is moving on my behalf as we speak. I don’t know why, but I must focus on Who, for my God is faithful, righteous, and trustworthy! By the flesh’s standard, God is never on time, but in truthful reality, we must remember that He has never been late!

Psalm 40:1-3- For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. I waited patiently for the LORD; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in Him.

God bless! I love you all, but His love is always right on time! Praise, glory, and honor now and forevermore to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
