Isaiah 48 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Isaiah 48:22

“There is no peace,” says the LORD, “for the wicked.”

Outside of Christ, this is our lot in life. A life filled with strife and unrest instead of the peace He offers us. Too often, man uses peace as an excuse to make war or to extort those around them. They say, “If you want peace, then you must pay the price,” but in reality, Christ already paid the price for our peace. He paid for it that day on Calvary with His precious and perfect blood.

You see, peace is a gift God gives, not a state of mind that man earns or owns. Since peace is a gift from above, it must start and come from above. So, Christ first offers us peace with God through the washing of the blood and the regeneration of the Holy Spirit. Then, once we have peace with God, we can then have peace inside of ourselves. We no longer are in a constant state of unrest and rebellion but rather are confident and calm because of Who we belong to and His Spirit that dwells within us. Only after this are we able to have peace amongst ourselves; everything that is good comes from above and then changes us from within before being manifested in the world around us.

We must never forget that there is no peace outside of Christ. He is the Prince of Peace and the Author of it. Too often, we look for peace in all the wrong places. We look to this world and the people of it to fulfill what only God can. He didn’t give us Christ to condemn us but rather to save us through Him. Peace is free to us through Jesus Christ, but it cost Him everything. Will you come and receive His offer of peace today?

John 14:27- “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Colossians 1:19,20- For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross.

God bless! I love you all, but His love is peace! Praise, glory, and honor both now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
