Isaiah 52 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Isaiah 52:13,14

“See, my servant will act wisely; he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted. Just as there were many who were appalled at him — his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and his form marred beyond human likeness—"

Christ: disfigured and unrecognizable by man that we may be recognized by God! These verses speak ultimately of Christ and, even more specifically, the beating and crucifixion of Christ for the sins of the world. He was not gently put up on that cross, nor was it a quick and painless process. It was excruciating at every level; He was tormented spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically for you and me.

At any moment, Jesus could have stopped it and spared Himself from the atrocities around Him, but in doing that, He would have forfeited our souls. He could have changed His mind and decided we weren’t worth it, but instead, He prayed and powered through it so that we may have not just a hope for today but eternal hope in Jesus Christ our King.

To think that the King of Glory would lay down His life for a sinful man like me is amazing. He went through it with love in His heart, prayers on His lips, and forgiveness in His mind. He did not back down nor bow down to the evil one but took the nails willingly, and in a victorious battle cry, He said it is finished, and what Christ finishes no man, no devil, no evil can undo! This beautiful King of kings was marred and beaten, disfigured and rejected, but never changed who He was or why He came; this same Jesus wants you and me today. Will we come to Him?

Thank you, Jesus, for allowing yourself to be disfigured that I may be made whole! He is worthy of all praise!

Isaiah 52:3- For this is what the LORD says: “You were sold for nothing, and without money you will be redeemed.”

God bless! I love you all, but His love is unstoppable! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
