Isaiah 65 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Isaiah 65:1,2

“I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’ All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people, who walk in ways not good, pursuing their own imaginations.”

Though our God is righteous, holy, and pure, He does not lack love, compassion, or kindness. He is perfect in every way and beyond our comprehension! In the next few verses of Isaiah, it talks about the people's rebellious heart, a heart bent on idol worship and filled with wicked self-righteousness. If we only read those verses, we would leave with a sour taste in our mouths and a wonder of who then can be saved? But glory to God who gives us verses like the ones above to go with those that point out the condition of our hearts!

Imagine if the entire Bible was just filled with how wicked and wrong we are. Imagine if it just pointed out our flaws without giving us the glorious hope of new life in Christ, a rebirth into Him that far outweighs the sins we were buried in. Our God is so merciful to not only point out our sins but, more importantly, to point out our Savior and Who He is!

I think of myself as this obstinate nation, one that God held His hand out to for years and years until, finally, my eyes were opened and my heart was transformed by Him! Maybe today, you feel like God has given up on you or that you're too far gone. Do not believe that lie, for the people in these Scriptures had rebelled mightily, and yet He was still standing there with the offer of hope, love, and salvation in Him. Our God does not change, so guess what? He is still doing this today! Will you take His hand?

Isaiah 65:9,10- “I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and from Judah those who will possess my mountains; my chosen people will inherit them, and there will my servants live. Sharon will become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a resting place for herds, for my people who seek me.”

God bless! I love you all, but His love is reaching out to you and me today! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
