Jeremiah 32 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Jeremiah 32:2,3

“Take a scroll and write on it all the words I have spoken to you concerning Israel, Judah and all the other nations from the time I began speaking to you in the reign of Josiah till now. Perhaps when the people of Judah hear about every disaster I plan to inflict on them, they will each turn from their wicked ways; then I will forgive their wickedness and their sin.”

The LORD commanded Jeremiah to take the message of the coming judgment to the people in order to save them, not condemn them. God’s message was never meant to deter or stop them from coming to Him, but rather it was meant to encourage them to come back to the Father! Do we see the great importance of this truth? For we are to use God’s Word to warn and draw the lost back to Him, not weaponize it against them! If God, who is perfect, pure, righteous, and holy wants to warn us that we may repent, then who are we to use it any differently?

We must be careful to speak the truth in love and not leave either part out; it is a fine line between love and enabling or condoning. We have got to mimic God’s heart for the lost. He doesn’t try to bury them in their sins but honestly, faithfully, and lovingly points them out and offers them a way out so that they may be saved. His heart is for salvation over destruction, but if we reject His offer of mercy, we are left with His wrath.

So today, who can you take this message to? Remember Jeremiah did it at the LORD’s command, and so must we! So LORD, who would You have us take Your truth to today? And please forgive me for the many times I fail at this! Lead us for Your glory and the good of those around us!

Ephesians 4:15- Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ.

God bless! I love you all, but His love offers us a way out and a way home! Praise, glory, and honor to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!

Jeremiah 32:24,25

“See how the siege ramps are built up to take the city. Because of the sword, famine and plague, the city will be given into the hands of the Babylonians who are attacking it. What you said has happened, as you now see. And though the city will be given into the hands of the Babylonians, you, Sovereign LORD, say to me, ‘Buy the field with silver and have the transaction witnessed.’”

God had decreed destruction and captivity for Judah, and at the same time, told Jeremiah to buy property there. To Jeremiah, this must have seemed backwards, and I’m sure a bit confusing, but our God is never confused and always has a plan. This is God’s way of saying, “I will bring you back one day. Yes, this land will go into exile for their sins, but I will not leave them there forever!” Praise God who disciplines His children for their own good but does not destroy or forget them completely! His discipline is meant to draw us away from our sin and back to Him, yet we must choose whether to heed His instruction and repent or continue on to destruction.

Jeremiah obeyed the LORD despite the circumstances around him. The entire world as he knew it was crumbling, yet he faithfully bought property at the LORD’s command; would we? It takes faith to do this, for we cannot please God with out faith, and we can’t follow Him without it either. If we refuse to believe He is who He says He is, then why even claim Him as our God? When our obedience becomes conditional, our heart becomes corruptible. One of the ways we guard our hearts is by obeying our God, regardless of what the outside world or even our own eyes tell us. He is above us, before us, and God in spite of us!

Hebrews 11:6- And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

God bless! I love you all, but His love is the foundation of life! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
