Ezekiel 5 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Ezekiel 5:14,15

“I will make you a ruin and a reproach among the nations around you, in the sight of all who pass by. You will be a reproach and a taunt, a warning and an object of horror to the nations around you when I inflict punishment on you in anger and in wrath and with stinging rebuke. I the LORD have spoken.”

This is part of the judgement pronounced by God on the city of Jerusalem for her sins, specifically referenced as her idolatry. This outpouring of righteous judgment was to accomplish many things, one of which to warn those around them of the cost of idolatry and sin. We may not physically be around them, but we must learn from their mistakes or be in danger of falling into the same trap.

It has been said that our hearts are idol factories, and taking one look around the world, we can see how true that statement is. This nation, once founded on Godly principles, now stands in ruins and about to fall. I believe it is our idolatry and the perversions we have embraced in this nation that have caused it to decline so rapidly. We have compromised in ways no one should, and even embraced the waywardness of sin and perversion, glorifying it more and more.

So, what do we do, throw our hands up and watch the ship sink? Absolutely not! We need to pray harder, love deeper, serve quicker, give more abundantly, and do it all in the name of the LORD and for His glory! We may not be able to change the world, but we can plant the seeds that may change someone’s world, and according to Christ, the one matters as much as the many! So who can you take the truth and love of Christ to today?

Luke 15:4-7- “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

God bless! I love you all, but His love not only saves the day but saves the soul! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
