Ezekiel 23 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Ezekiel 23:48,49

“So I will put an end to lewdness in the land, that all women may take warning and not imitate you. You will suffer the penalty for your lewdness and bear the consequences of your sins of idolatry. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.”

The LORD was revealing the sins of Samaria and Jerusalem to Ezekiel using a parable of two sisters. God laid before him the continued sins of each; neither one was willing to turn from their sins and be healed but instead continued on in them and faced the LORD’s righteous judgement. Notice how the LORD says to let them be an example that the others may take warning and not follow their lead. It is so important for us to pay attention to the historical side of the Bible so that we may learn from their mistakes and avoid them.

Now, it is impossible for us to avoid every pitfall and sin named in the Bible, but we can grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ! By doing that, we can put down the sins of our youth as we grow up in our faith. It will take a certain mindset and determination. We must set our minds upon Christ and be determined to follow Him regardless of where He leads. If we will not commit ourselves fully to Him, then we are in danger of falling away from Him.

Each one of us must make the choice each day who we will serve; the Lord who is worthy, or the flesh that is worthless. Jesus called 12 disciples to follow Him; not one of them started out holy, righteous, or completely devout, but they spent time with Him, listened, and obeyed what He said, and in doing that, God grew them for His glory and the good of those around them (including their own good)! Our God is still doing this today! So let us pay attention to the warnings God is giving us and grow in Him today!

Revelation 22:12,13- “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

God bless! I love you all, but His love offers us a way out before it’s too late! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
