Ezekiel 24 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Ezekiel 24:18

So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. The next morning I did as I had been commanded.

Ezekiel’s obedience amazes me! The LORD had told him he was going to lose his wife and then gave him instructions on what to do next, and he obeyed God. It’s amazing to me the level of reverence, obedience, and love Ezekiel has for the LORD. Can we say the same? Will we obey Him even in the hardest times? When the night seems to drag on and we grow weary in our faith? Will we rest in the goodness of God and obey Him even when we don’t agree or understand?

This is not an easy teaching, but it doesn’t make it any less true or important. Our God is worthy of every ounce of obedience and reverence we can muster. He came out of Heaven to save us; imagine stepping out of perfection to enter perversion to suffer and die for something that wasn’t your fault or problem. That is what Christ did for you and me; let us never forget that He did it out of love and in full surrender to the Father. He gave His life that we may have life and have it to the full. Not some half-empty life now but a life full of the Spirit and all that He is.

We too must be like Ezekiel and set our hearts and minds to obeying God regardless of the circumstances. For if we only obey God when it’s easy or in order to get something, then how are we any different from the world around us? He is worthy, but are we willing?

Romans 12:2- Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.

God bless! I love you all, but His love is worthy of our deepest devotion! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
