Ezekiel 30 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Ezekiel 30:21,22

“Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt. It has not been bound up to be healed or put in a splint so that it may become strong enough to hold a sword. Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt. I will break both his arms, the good arm as well as the broken one, and make the sword fall from his hand.”

This is part of a prophecy God gave Ezekiel against the king of Egypt. It paints a powerful picture and holds an important truth. The first part of the verse (the single broken arm) points to a year before when the LORD used Nebuchadnezzar to defeat Pharaoh Hophra; but he did not turn back to be healed but instead pushed forward in his sin. The LORD had given him a warning, an opportunity even to turn from his pride and idolatry, to humble himself and seek healing from the Healer, but the Pharaoh refused, and it cost him dearly.

Our God is a merciful God, full of love and compassion, but He is also a God of justice and righteousness. Like the Pharaoh, God warns us, and if we refuse to listen, there are worse things to come. I’m sure the Pharaoh thought there was nothing worse than that first defeat, that this time it would be different, but the outcome not only was a bad one but it actually got worse. We too, if we refuse to repent and turn back to God, will face the full force of His wrath. A wrath born out of righteousness and justice, one that is far beyond our comprehension and impossible for us to stop. So let us take heed to God’s warnings and turn back to Him for healing, for the day will come when the doors are closed and no one else will get in. But praise God that time hasn’t come yet, so will you come to Him?

Isaiah 55:6,7- Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.

Notice it says He will have mercy, and He will freely pardon; those are not maybes but guarantees, but it starts with us. We must choose to repent and turn to Him for this forgiveness and healing. Will we?

God bless! I love you all, but His love is greater than all! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
