Ezekiel 36 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Ezekiel 36:37,38

“This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Once again I will yield to Israel’s plea and do this for them: I will make their people as numerous as sheep, as numerous as the flocks for offerings at Jerusalem during her appointed festivals. So will the ruined cities be filled with flocks of people. Then they will know that I am the LORD.”

I am amazed at the abundance of mercy that pours from our God! The Israelites had rejected the LORD and His commands, following their idols and filling the land with bloodshed. Yet what does God say? He says, yes there is a punishment, and yes there are consequences for their actions, but there is also mercy waiting in the wings! Praise God! As someone who fails often, this truth is encouraging and life-giving. So often, I step out of the Spirit and into the flesh, but God meets me with mercy time and time again. I deserve to be left alone to die in my sins, but God doesn’t do that, does He? Instead, He sent Christ not to condemn/reject the world but to save/reconcile the world to Him. Mercy literally poured out from Heaven as Christ poured out His blood. Just like the Israelites, I get it wrong so often, and just like them, I have a God waiting to receive my repentance.

Thank You, Lord, for Your mercy that meets me right in the middle of my mess and leads me down the path of righteousness through repentance and surrender. Please forgive me, Lord, for every time I fall short of Your glorious standard. I am grateful that instead of casting me out, You called me closer and continue to show me the power of Your mercy!

Romans 5:20,21- The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God bless! I love you all, but His love is our salvation! Praise, glory, and honor both now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
