Ezekiel 45 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Ezekiel 45:10-12

“You are to use accurate scales, an accurate ephah and an accurate bath. The ephah and the bath are to be the same size, the bath containing a tenth of a homer and the ephah a tenth of a homer; the homer is to be the standard measure for both. The shekel is to consist of twenty gerahs. Twenty shekels plus twenty-five shekels plus fifteen shekels equal one mina.”

We see that God sets the standard, and it is always right, just, and fair! This morning, the Lord laid it on my heart how He has to be the standard, not just in some things but in all things. In this world, things can change dramatically and drastically in a matter of moments. One day, this is bad and that is good, then the next day it’s flipped around. It would be so hard to live a righteous, God-fearing life with a constantly moving standard. Our God knows this, and He sets the standard on the one thing that will never change, who He is!

He is our standard in all things, in all areas and for all time. He does not waver, He does not charge, He will not tell you one thing and then do another. He is not like us but above us and yet became one of us to save us. God is the standard, and the standard is not burdensome, unfair, or unethical but rather He is perfect, pure, righteous, holy, and just. It amazes me how good our God treats us in spite of all the evil that lives within us. Think about that for a moment: our God is so good to us even in the midst of our sin… and I can prove it.

Romans 5:8- But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

No greater gift has ever been given than the one and only Son of God given for the sins of the world. Nothing can or will ever top that perfect gift given to fallen man. So, who sets your standard today? You or God? The world or the Word? The flesh or the One who came in the flesh to set you free?

Matthew 11:28-30- “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

God bless! I love you all, but His love is the standard set for our love; will we walk in it? Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
