Hosea 7 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Hosea 7:13

“Woe to them, because they have strayed from me! Destruction to them, because they have rebelled against me! I long to redeem them but they speak about me falsely.”

This is part of a word God gave Hosea to speak against the Israelites. It is powerful and important for us to read this and see the heart of our God! He says that destruction is coming, but that’s not what He longs to bring us. This verse says He longs to redeem us, not destroy us. It’s amazing to me how much and how hard our God loves us. He has every right to destroy us, and yet He doesn’t. He pours out mercy, grace, and forgiveness upon us, the very ones who incur the wrath of God are showered with His love.

If God longed to destroy us, we would have been destroyed long ago! Some of us have a picture of God as some harsh and hard master in the sky, one who is waiting to rain down punishment upon us when we step out of line. My friends, that just isn’t true; yes, there are consequences to our actions and punishment for sins, but for those of us in Christ Jesus, neither of those things are as bad as they should be.

Even before Christ saved me, the punishments I received from God did not match the crime. For the crimes of my life I deserved death and separation, yet God in His love, pursued me in love and redemption. He is doing the same for you! He is not up there wanting you to slip up but rather wanting you to surrender and find your rest/redemption in Him. Our God is a consuming fire, and there is a day of wrath, but if you’re reading this, then today is not that day. Today is the day of mercy and salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord; will you come to Mercy, or wait on the wrath?

2 Corinthians 6:1,2- As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. For He says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.

God bless! I love you all, but His love longs to redeem us and proved it on the cross! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
