Proverbs 11 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Proverbs 11:7

Hopes placed in mortals die with them; all the promise of their power comes to nothing.

I Googled the definition of Biblical hope, and this is what I found: “To trust in, wait for, look for, or desire something or someone; or to expect something beneficial in the future.” So what are we placing our hope in today? Is it in man? In the government? Our own attributes and abilities? Or is it placed in the One who created us?

Each one of us must choose where we will put our hope, and if it’s in anything less than the God of all hope, we will be sadly disappointed. Think about it like this: if I put my hope in a person, even the best of us fall short at some point, and even if that person were somehow able to never fall short, they would eventually die, leaving me empty-handed and lacking hope.

But if I put my hope in God, the eternal and immovable one, then I can rest assured that not only will He be here for ever but He will be Him forever! What a promise in a day when things change at the blink of an eye; one day this is in and that is out, but the next it’s the opposite. Yet God says I Am! He does not change, He will not change, He cannot change for He is perfect, righteous, holy, and pure. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the One who came to save sinners like me!

So today if you have put your hope in all the wrong places, I implore you to take the chance and put it where it belongs, in the scarred yet loving hands of Jesus Christ!

Romans 15:13- May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

God bless! I love you all, but His love offers us hope! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
