Proverbs 14 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Proverbs 14:26

Whoever fears the LORD has a secure fortress, and for their children it will be a refuge.

Praise God for this generational promise and blessing! I have experienced this truth first-hand in my own life, for no word from God will ever fail. First, let’s talk about what this verse does not mean. Unfortunately, it doesn’t guarantee that your children will follow Christ just because you do. How I wish that was how it worked; unfortunately, we all have freewill and have to make the choice for ourselves. But what this verse does mean is that if you fear the LORD and faithfully follow Him, your kids will know where to run in their time of need.

Think about it, the verse says it will be a refuge. What is a refuge? It is a place you run for safety, protection, and provision. A refuge is not a place of death but of life! So in my own life, this verse rings true. My mom walked faithfully with the LORD for many years before I ever called on His name. Unbeknownst to me, she was planting seeds all along the way; then, one day, I found myself in a jail cell, broken and alone. When I finally turned to the LORD, this verse came to pass.

He is my refuge, He is the One I run to, He is the faithful and righteous King. He was waiting long before I ever came and will be standing with me for all time. He is faithful! If you fear the LORD and serve Him, be encouraged because He will be that faithful refuge for you and your children! Don’t give up hope but rather give it all to God! Thank You, Jesus, and thank you, Mom!

2 Thessalonians 3:3- But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

Proverbs 14:32- When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous seek refuge in God.

God bless! I love you all, but His love is mighty to save both us and our children! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
