Genesis 4:7 Scripture Meditation by Stephen Taylor

Genesis 4:7

“If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it."

Let this be an encouragement to you today. Yesterday, God brought to mind a verse in Genesis, where God tells Cain that sin is waiting for him, but he must rule over it. That verse tells me that it’s possible to rule sin, not let sin rule me!!! How do I do that??? Sin can’t rule my heart if I let Jesus into it!!! Sin can’t stand against the mighty name of Jesus, so if I want to rule over it, I have to let Jesus rule me!!! What a relief I don’t have to win my own battles or win my own wars!!! The war was won on the cross and was a promise that was foretold long ago!!!

God was warning Cain that something bad was on the verge of happening, but Cain chose selfishness over surrender. He chose to destroy rather than allow God to deliver him. God gave Cain a heads up and the tools needed to complete the task, but he chose not to use them and to tried to circumvent the process. It doesn’t work like that, and I feel like we are in the same boat. God has given us the tools to complete the task of ruling sin, and it’s up to us to use them. We have Jesus, the Scriptures, prayer, fasting, worship, and fellowship to help us walk with God, not walk against Him.

As long as we are in this world, sin, death, and destruction are crouching, waiting for us to slip, but our God says we can rule over them because of the love and blood of His Son poured out on the cross!!! Be vigilant, be bold, but do not be afraid; sin can’t have you because Jesus already bought your freedom. You just have to accept Him!!!

Be encouraged and be encouraging!!! I love you all, God bless, and Glory to God in the highest!!!
