"Instructions for Life" Children's Sermon on the Bible - 2 Timothy 3:14-16
Use this children's sermon on the Bible to show students how the Bible is God's instructions for how we should live!
Needed: Something with instructions (a game, a model, a recipe, etc.) and a Bible
Lesson: Show students your item and ask if any of them know how to [play, build, make] it.
If you don't know how to do something, what could you do to learn?
You could read the instructions, couldn't you? (Pull out the instructions.) Instructions tell us how to do things the right way.
What about in life? Are there any instructions we can read to tell us how to live our lives the right way?
(Show
students a Bible.) The Bible is God's instructions to us for how we
should live. It tells us how much God loves us and it tells us all the
right things we are supposed to do in life.
(Read 2 Timothy 3:14-16, quoted here in the NIV.)
"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness"
Just like we needed instructions for _____, the Bible is our instructions for life.
Let's pray about that.
Sample
prayer: Father God, we thank You for giving us the Bible so that we can
know the right way to live. We pray that You will help us to follow the
Bible's instructions. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
