The Aetherlight: Chronicles of the Resistance (Excellent)

Play for free on Android or iOS, or purchase for PC and Mac |
Platform: PC, Mac, Android, iOS
Publisher: Scarlet City Studios, 2016
Wow! This is an impressive game, and I certainly hope Scarlet City
continues the series. Right now, you can play through the first 3
episodes in which you help the Scarlet Man (Jesus) restore The Great
Engineer (God the Father) to the throne of this steampunk kingdom. The
graphics are great, the gameplay is great, and there is plenty of
allegorical content referencing Biblical stories. This is a must-play
game for any Christian gamer.

While not really a game, this interactive experience will encourage you
as you walk through the life of Joel's parents, hearing real
conversations that they had during the course of their young son's
illness and eventual death.

Daily Bible Word Search (Excellent)
Platform: Brower (Facebook), Android, iOS
Publisher: Planet 316, 2018
Here's another daily game by Planet 316. While it's still a pretty
simple game, I like this one a little more because it's more than a
game. After you solve the short puzzle for the day, it provides you with
a brief devotional to read.

Destiny Game (Excellent)

Publisher: Battle Gear, LLC, 2014
This is a fun board game to play with your children or as a preteen.
There can be up to five players, and you take turns going around the
board making real-life decisions. You earn money and Eternal Fruit,
which is a way of showing how our choices have consequences.

Granny's Bible Dojo (Excellent)
This is a great game for learning the books of the Bible. Granny will
present the books in a jumbled order, and you have to crack the boards
in order. When you crack one, another will appear behind it. You'll also
hear Granny's instructions and encouragement, so that adds some humor
to the game.

Guardians of Ancora (Excellent)
This platformer that walks through the stories of the Bible is a very impressive offering for mobile devices.

Reborn Crosswords (Excellent)
While there won't be any new puzzles, you can still play the archive
with this app. You can also create your own puzzles to share with others
on your website.

Stained Glass (Excellent)
This match 3 game adds beautiful artwork and fully voiced Bible story
narrations. I particularly enjoy the paraphrased Bible stories that the
characters tell you. They're imaginative and add a fresh perspective to
the Biblical text without crossing the line into too much speculation.

Bible Word Puzzle (Good)
This is a mobile game in which you rearrange letters to form all the
possible words while reading Bible verses and answering trivia
questions. It's a good combination of activities that becomes
increasingly challenging as you play.

Buddy Quest (Good)
Publisher: Group Publishing, Inc., 2015
This is a town-building sim with the Group Publishing "Buddies." You
build your town, invite buddies to move in, and play mini-games. It's
all pretty engaging, but you do have the normal wait times for things to
build. Of course, you can hurry things up, but that's when the in-app
purchases come in. The graphics are cute, and the gameplay in the
mini-games is surprisingly smooth.
As you play, you'll also see Real Hero Quests coming up. They relate to what you're doing in the game but require you to do something in real life to pass the quest. The first one, which I'm showing above, requires you to do some cleanup around your house after you cleaned up the town plot. The best part of this, though, is that parents can pair set it up so that they have to mark off when their child has completed the Real Life Quest rather than the player advancing automatically. It adds some control and accountability to the game.

Daily Bible Jigsaw (Good)

Play for free on Facebook, Android, or iOS! |
Platform: Browser (Facebook), Android, iOS
Publisher: Planet 316, 2017
This is a simple jigsaw puzzle game with limited appeal and limited game
time. What I mean is that all of the puzzles are of the "cute" variety,
are easy to complete, and only offer one puzzle per day. That being
said, that might be great for some people. Personally, I would like more
variety in the picture styles. What I do like about the game is that it
presents each puzzle with a Bible verse and allows you to save the
pictures and share them.
+ + +
Noah's Elephant in the Room (Good)
Ride Noah's elephant through the Ark, avoiding Noah's sons, who are
trying to ruin his good time. If you want to a boost, you can memorize
Bible verses and upgrade your elephant. It's a fun game to play around
with, but don't expect it to keep your attention for long. Thankfully,
it doesn't have to since it's free to play.

Pangolin's Puzzle (Good)
This is a story-based series of challenging logic puzzles, perfect for when you want to exercise your deduction skills.

Sheep Master (Good)
Platform: Android, iOS

Publisher: Sunland Entertainment Studios., 2016
This is a well-done farm-building/defense game. With enemies ranging
from wild animals to a sorceress who wants to take your sheep for
sacrifice, you'll have your hands full trying to defend your flock!
There's also a light but definite Christian subtext to the game.
+ + +
Guardian Light of the World (Fair)
Also known as GLOW
There isn't much Christian content to this game, and it does get a
little bloody. You're a knight trying to recover the Ten Commandments
for your kingdom (don't ask me how your kingdom got the Ten
Commandments). There's a prayer of salvation you can read on the title
screen, and the game is set up to say that you're fighting demons in
your quest. You also gather Bibles as your powerups. Despite the thin
Christian skin on this monster-hacker, my main complaint is that the
movement and aiming are difficult to control.
+ + +
Moses Freedom Fighter (Fair)
This is a variety game with each of the seven levels representing
a different event in Moses' life with a different style of gameplay.
You'll experience everything from platforming to Tetris to boxing to
aiming to gem-matching. The game is generally is well-done for a
collection of mini-games.

Noah's Ark: Dash N' Splash (Poor)
Platform: PC, Android, iOS
Publisher: JustinTime Studios, 2019
This 3D game shows good effort but needs a little more work. You play an intrepid Noah, getting ready for the
Flood. You’ll meet his family as well as others in the world as you gather
materials, solve puzzles, and explore the landscape.
