Romans 12 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Romans 12:6-8

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

What are we doing with the gifts God has given us? Are we using these God-given gifts for God-purposes or are we wasting them on things of lesser value? Let me share something with you: I believe that I have the gift of leadership to some degree. It has been fairly easy in my life to get people to buy into what I’m saying and go along with it. Before the Lord saved me, I used this God-given gift for perverted purposes. Whether it was women, drugs, or money, it didn’t matter as I would use this gift to get what I want by manipulating people and leading them down a wrong path. Fast-forward some years later, redeemed and saved by the grace of God, I now am able to use that gift to give God glory and for the purposes He prepared it for.

Each of us has different gifts and different callings, but we all have this in common: these gifts are given by God, for God’s purposes and glory, and for the good of His people. Which leads me to my next point; if it’s not the gift you want or one you don’t value highly, does that mean you can ignore or downplay it? Absolutely not! Let me explain, I have been told I have the gift of encouragement, but to me, that seemed like something everyone could have. So I have not embraced that gift as I should, and in doing that, have dishonored God. Forgive me, Lord, and please lead me to be an encourager for Yur glory and the good of those around me.

Think about the gift of encouragement for a second. It’s beautiful, it’s powerful, and it’s necessary! As an encourager, we can meet people right in their darkest days or deepest hurts and share the hope and love of Jesus Christ! I guess my point this morning is embrace the gifts God has given you and know they are important and precious in His sight! If He didn’t want you to have it, He wouldn’t have given it to you! What gift has He given you, and how can you serve Him in it today?

1 Corinthians 7:7- I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.

God bless! I love you all, but His love empowers you with gifting from above to serve here below! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!

Romans 12:21

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Let me be the first to say this can be extremely difficult and almost impossible to do without the help of Jesus! This world we live in is crazy right now, and we might not understand a lot of it, but what we do understand is that the world is lacking something. Something that money, power, and prestige can’t buy, and that is the peace, love, and strength that comes from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

In light of recent events, I believe it’s so important to live this verse out in our daily lives! See, if we are fighting with each other, then we aren’t fighting for the Kingdom of God, and if we’re not fighting for the kingdom, who will fight for it? Terrible tragedies have happened, but the answer isn’t more violence, division, or hate. The answer is to show the world the love of the Savior and let Jesus turn the tide for us! We need unity right now, not worldly unity but unity in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!!

When the enemy can’t destroy us, he will try to delay, distract, or divide us, but God can and will deliver us if we turn to Him and ask!! Remember, we all sin and fall short, but love covers a multitude of sins, and Jesus’ love and blood covers them all!!

I love you all, God bless, and Glory to God!!!!
