Leviticus 11 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Leviticus 11:1

The LORD said to Moses and Aaron…

In the first 8 chapters of Leviticus, the phrase “the LORD said to Moses” appears at least 7 times, but then in the 11th chapter, it adds Aaron’s name. Why do I think this is important, and what can it teach us? What happened between the verses above will help us answer those questions.

In between the 8th and 11th chapters, Aaron and his sons consecrate (willfully dedicate) themselves to the LORD and are anointed as priests. They set themselves apart to the LORD and for the LORD, and I believe in doing that, the LORD started speaking to them, and they started hearing Him! This is no different for us today!

We are called a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9) because of who we are in Jesus Christ. So, if we dedicate our lives to God and set ourselves apart for God, much like Aaron and his sons did, then I believe we will start hearing the LORD more and more!

Has it been a while since you heard Him speak? Have you never heard His voice or felt His Presence? If you answered yes to either of these, I would encourage you to ask the LORD for forgiveness and guidance as you surrender all of yourself to Him! We have to choose whether we are going to be set apart for Him or set apart from Him; which one will you choose today?

Deuteronomy 30:15- See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction.

Deuteronomy 30:19,20- This day, I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

God bless! I love you all, but His love shattered the grave! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!

Leviticus 11:46,47

“These are the regulations concerning animals, birds, every living thing that moves about in the water and every creature that moves along the ground. You must distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between living creatures that may be eaten and those that may not be eaten.”

God gives them the regulations and requirements, but He tells the Israelites that it’s up to them to follow them. He says, here’s the list; now it’s up to you to distinguish between clean and unclean. But if they didn’t listen or if they didn’t read the regulations He gave them, then how would they know? They wouldn’t, but they would still be responsible for their actions, and the same can be said about us. The Israelites weren’t responsible for deciding what was clean or unclean, but their responsibility was to follow the regulations laid before them, and again the same is true for us. We aren’t to make up the rules but follow them. And Ignorance is not an excuse. God has given us a beautiful book of life called the Bible. He calls us to follow it completely, but if we’re never reading it, then how can we know what it says? God isn’t trying to trap us or confuse us but rather wants us to know the severity of sin, the punishment for it, and how His Son paid for every last one! Our God is loving, merciful, and kind, but He is also just, righteous and holy. Let us never confuse God’s kindness for weakness because our God isn’t weak when dealing with sin. We see how strong a stance He takes against it by the price His Son was willing to pay for it and for us!

(NLT) 2 Peter 3:9-The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed but wants everyone to repent.

1 Corinthians 1:25- For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

God bless! I love you all, but His love made the Way! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
