2 Chronicles 7 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

2 Chronicles 7:3

When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the LORD above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the LORD, saying, “He is good; His love endures forever.”

What a simple yet profound, powerful, and beautiful time of worship. We see God’s people gather in the unity of heart, word, and action to worship the LORD and give thanks to Him. How amazing and intimate of a time this must have been, both for God and the people –  God getting to spend the dedication of His temple with the children He had rescued and redeemed from Egypt, and the Israelites getting to worship and experience the Presence of God. Oh, how I long for times like these. Times of intimacy and closeness to our God. Times of refreshing, refocusing, and refilling. How awesome and breathtaking it would have been to be there that day!

But just because we weren’t there on that day doesn’t mean we can’t worship Him together in the same way. His Presence is just as much with us now as it was with them that day. But the question then becomes, can we all be of one accord with each other in Him as they were, or are our differences too high a wall to scale. These Israelites put aside their customs, their differences, their failures, and their victories in order to meet together to focus on and worship the one and only Living God. Could we? Would we? They had a hunger to worship God, mixed with a bold humility and a heart full of willingness towards their God. We have this opportunity every Sunday to come into His Presence and humble ourselves before Him and watch His fire fall, and His glory fill the room.

Philippians 2:1,2- Therefore, if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.

God bless! I love you all, but His love is never divided. Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
