Revelation – Chronological Summary of Events

John receives a vision of glorified Jesus, sets the tone for the book – chapter 1

 

Jesus dictates 7 letters to John’s home churches and evaluates their doctrine, morality, perseverance in persecution, and efforts in ministry, and encourages them with the promise of future rewards – chapters 2 and 3

 

Jesus shows John a vision of God the Father on the Throne and Himself as the sacrificial Lamb who is worthy to open the scroll (book) of life – chapters 4 and 5

 

After Jesus’ ascension into Heaven, Satan started a war in Heaven, and will eventually be cast to Earth. The war is currently ongoing – chapter 12

 

When Satan is cast to Earth, he will raise up the AntiChrist, the head of a Muslim Empire – chapter 13

 

The AntiChrist and False Prophet will wage war against Israel and gain power to persecute Christians worldwide. He will set up an idol in the Temple – chapters 13, 6

 

God will begin to punish the AntiChrist’s Empire but will first set apart 144,000 Jewish believers – chapter 7

 

God will punish the AntiChrist’s Empire – chapters 8 and 9

 

In Jerusalem, Jesus and the Holy Spirit will witness against the AntiChrist’s Empire for 3.5 years, then be killed and ascend to Heaven – chapter 11

 

At the seventh trumpet, Christ will return with the 144,000 Jewish believers, gather all Christians to Himself in the air, and defeat the AntiChrist’s Empire – chapters 10 and 11, 14-16, 19

 

Before the end, the AntiChrist’s Empire will destroy those they see as traitors (possibly Saudi Arabia) – chapters 17-19

 

God will then send an angel to bind Satan for 1,000 years – chapter 20

 

Jesus will raise the martyrs killed under the AntiChrist, and they will reign with Him for 1,000 years – chapter 20

 

After 1,000 years, God will release Satan, and he will again gather an army to attack Jesus in Jerusalem, but the army will be defeated and Satan will be cast into Hell – chapter 20

 

Then the rest of humanity will be raised to face God’s judgment. Some will live on the New Earth, some will go to Hell. There will be no more death after this second resurrection – chapter 20

 

God will create a new Heavens and a New Earth and will dwell with people in the New Jerusalem. There will be no more sin – chapters 21 and 22
