Matthew 2 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Matthew 2:9

After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.

Matthew 2:13- When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and His mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill Him."

We see God moving and leading in different ways. Do we know He is still doing this today? Our God still speaks, but are we listening? He wants our attention; will we give it to Him? God spoke to Joseph through dreams but not so with the Magi. So, we see our God being very intentional with each one, meeting them right where they are at so that they can understand and grasp what He is saying.

What an awesome God we serve! The One who created us and knows us better than we know ourselves also knows just how to get our attention! How thankful I am that God wants this personal and intimate relationship with you and me! God may speak to you through music or nature. God may speak to you through acts of service and kindness. God may speak to you in a myriad of different ways, but the point is this: our God is speaking, and we need to be listening. We have to be spending daily quiet time with Him, getting into His Presence each and every day.

The more time we spend in His Presence, the more we come to know and be known by Him. Christ is so beautiful we can't help but be drawn into Him when we're spending time with Him. It just happens. He reveals His heart for us and continually blows us away with His goodness and faithfulness. So today, let's close our physical mouths and open our spiritual ears, for the words He has to say to us are life-giving at their core! He is the Author of everything good and the Redeemer of our souls! He wants all of us, and He is most worthy of what little we have! He is trying to get our attention; can you hear Him?

Psalm 16:2- I say to the LORD, "You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing."

Psalm 16:5- LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.

God bless! I love you all, but His love speaks to us daily and differently. Are we listening? Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
