No Emergency to Jesus! – Children’s Sermon on Raising the Dead Girl - Luke 8:40-56

Needed: Nothing

Scripture: Luke 8:40-56

Children’s Sermon: Tell students, I saw police cars and fire trucks and ambulances driving really fast on the road. Where do you think they were going?

Why were they driving so fast to get there?

Police and firemen and medics hurry to help in an emergency. An emergency is something that can’t wait.

What would happen if the policeman or the fireman or the ambulance driver drove slow to an emergency? (People might die.)

But did you know that nothing is an emergency to Jesus?

(Read or summarize Luke 8:40-56)

In this story, a dad comes to ask Jesus to go to his house to heal his sick daughter who is about to die. It’s an emergency! If Jesus doesn’t heal the girl soon, she’ll die!

Along the way, a woman sneaks up and touches Jesus so that she can be healed, and Jesus stops to talk to her. Instead of hurrying straight to the emergency, Jesus stops and talks to the woman.

Why would Jesus stop to talk to someone instead of hurrying to the emergency?

When Jesus finally gets to the sick girl, He was too late getting to the emergency. The girl died.

But what does Jesus do? (He brings her back to life.)

Jesus didn’t have to hurry to the emergency, because He knew that if He didn’t make it in time to heal her, He could just bring her back to life.

Nothing is an emergency to Jesus, because whatever goes wrong, Jesus can fix it.

Closing Prayer: Jesus, we thank You that You are so powerful, You can fix any problem. You can fix our problems while we’re here on earth, or You can fix our problems when we’re in Heaven with You.
