Children’s Sermon on John 1 - Spending Time with Our Friend Jesus
Needed: Nothing
Scripture: John 1:35-39
Children’s Sermon: Ask students, How many of you have friends?
Think of one person you would say is your friend. How do you know that person is your friend? What do you do with that person?
Could you say someone is your friend if the two of you never talked or spent any time together?
The Bible says Jesus wants to be our friend. What do you think we can do to talk to and spend time with Jesus?
(Read John 1:35-39.)
Like the people in this story, we can spend time with Jesus too. We can read His words in the Bible. We can pray. We can think about Him and know that His Spirit is with us. We can sing to Him. We could write about Him or draw pictures of Him. There’s lots of creative things we can do to spend time with Jesus.
Closing Prayer: Jesus, we thank You that we can spend time with You and learn from You. Help us to remember that You’re always available to us, and we can spend time with You anytime we want to. Amen.
