Children's Sermon on How to Be a Fisher of Men - Matthew 4:18-22 or Luke 5:1-11

Children's Sermon on How to Be a Fisher of Men

Bring a fishing pole or net if you have one and ask the children, Have any of you ever gone fishing?

Do you like fishing?

What do you have to do if you want to go catch some fish?

Can you catch fish if you just stay in your house? No, you have to go to where the fish are! You can't just stay in your house and expect to catch fish. You have to go to the pond or the lake or the river or the ocean.

Can you catch fish if you just throw in your fish hook with nothing on the end of it? No, you also need to take bait, something that the fish want.

What if you throw your line in and don't catch a fish right away? Should you just pull it back immediately and give up and go home? No, you have to be patient and wait for the fish to bite the bait.

Jesus told us He wants us to fish for people, so that we can bring people to Him, which means we need to go to where the people are, offer them something they want, and be patient for them to accept what we want to give them.
