Christian Video Games for Android

Daily Bible Word Search (Excellent)
Play for free on FacebookAndroid, or iOS!

Platform: Browser (Facebook), Android, iOS
Publisher: Planet 316, 2018

Here's another daily game by Planet 316. While it's still a pretty simple game, I like this one a little more because it's more than a game. After you solve the short puzzle for the day, it provides you with a brief devotional to read.

Guardians of Ancora (Excellent)

This platformer that walks through the stories of the Bible is a very impressive offering for mobile devices.

Reborn Crosswords (Excellent)

Play for free on iOS or Android!

Platform: Android, iOS
Publisher: Reborn Entertainment, 2012

While there won't be any new puzzles, you can still play the archive with this app. You can also create your own puzzles to share with others on your website.

That Dragon, Cancer (Excellent)
Purchase on SteamAndroid, or iOS

Platform: PC, Mac, Android, iOS
Publisher: Numinous Games, 2016

While not really a game, this interactive experience will encourage you as you walk through the life of Joel's parents, hearing real conversations that they had during the course of their young son's illness and eventual death.

Versed (Bible verse game) (Excellent)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: A Sling and a Stone LLC, 2011

Oohhh, I like that you can play different game modes (Reference, Verse, Fill in the Blank, and Books of the Bible) on three difficulty settings. In Reference, you read the chapter and verse and choose which of the four written texts match it. Verse is just the opposite. You read the text and choose the reference. In Fill in the Blank, you choose which order the words go into the blanks. The spacing in this mode is off, but it doesn't take too much away from the gameplay. The Books of the Bible game has you arranging the books in order that they appear.

Versed is a different kind of trivia game that lends well to learning Scripture. Plus, you can't lose this game. If you answer incorrectly, it tells you to try again. Going above and beyond what I've seen most apps do, Versed allows you to choose which translation of the Bible to use: NIV, ESV, NLT, KJV, or NASB. Plus, there are no ads. It's a completely free game with nothing to buy and no interruptions. The only thing I wish this app had is some music and sound effects.

+ + +

Bible Crush (Good)

Platform: Android
Publisher: AC Company, 2017

This is a game that has developed over several iterations. The first release (I think) was called Bible Gems and used images of Jesus, the Bible, the Ichthus fish, etc. and gave you random verses to read after you completed the level. This newest edition is a little more pop-culture friendly, using fruit and plants instead of Christian images, but includes a trivia question at the end of the level. Overall, it's very light where the Christian content is concerned, but the gameplay is fun, and the app is well done.

Bible Sorting Game (Good)

Platform: Android
Publisher: Trevor Sinkala, 2013

I really like the concept and arrangement of this game. It presents you with words to put in order, according to how they're presented in the Bible. The first level, for instance, has you choose the order in which God created the different elements in Genesis 1 and 2. In the screenshot above, I was putting Jacob's children in order by their birth. It's a simple game, but it's a fun, unique trivia game.

Bible Trivia Quiz Free Bible Guide (Good)

Platform: Android
Publisher: Christian Resources- Bible Truth, 2013

This is a simple trivia game. The only choice you make is how many questions you want to answer. Then, you have a timer for each question. At the end, it tells you how many questions you answered correctly in what amount of time. There's a good range of questions, so it's certainly worth playing if you enjoy trivia games. It also tells you the correct answer and the Scripture reference if you answer incorrectly. The best part about this app is that there are no ads. The "Free Bible Guide" part comes in when you have the option to give them your contact information and have them send you a printed guide about how to study the Bible. I didn't opt to do so, but from the topics covered, the guide does sound like it would be useful.

Bible Verse Quiz (Bible Game) (Good)

Platform: Android
Publisher: PetProject, 2017

This app has all the makings of a great Scripture reading game. It presents you with a verse in which there is one word missing. You tap on the letters below to fill in the missing word. You're reviewing Scripture as you test your knowledge. If you don't know the missing word, you can use the hint system, where you can choose to fill in a letter, remove unnecessary letters from your pool, or solve the puzzle. You'll also see the Scripture reference, so you can look up the answer on your own. The only problem is that there's a pop-up ad every few verses. It would also be nice if the supplied letters were in alphabetical order instead of randomly placed.

Bible Word Puzzle (Good)
Play for free!

Platform: Android, iOS
Publisher: idailybread.org, 2018

This is a mobile game in which you rearrange letters to form all the possible words while reading Bible verses and answering trivia questions. It's a good combination of activities that becomes increasingly challenging as you play.

+ + +

Bible Word Puzzle - Free Bible Story Game (Good)

Platform: Android
Publisher: idailybread.org, 2019

This is an upgrade of the original Bible Word Puzzle from idailybread.org. As you complete each set of puzzles, you get an animated picture of the major stories of the Bible and have the opportunity to read a selection of Scripture. You can also answer trivia questions for extra points. I found the game to be fun and addictive. Some of the phrasing shows that it was written by a non-native English speaker, but there are no problems understanding the game. The one detractor is that the words you're making in the puzzle don't seem to have anything to do with the Bible story.

+ + +

Bible Word Search (Good)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: Christian Games, 2019

This word search app allows you to choose from 8 grid sizes, ranging from 5 x 5 to 18 x 18. You can also challenge yourself by choosing to play a timed game, or you can leave the timer off. If you get stuck, you can use a hint (doesn't cost anything) to see the first letter of one of the words you're looking for.

There is a pop-up ad after you complete each puzzle, but since this isn't a super-spiritual app, the ads aren't a big problem. The only real complaint I found for this one is that while every word is from the Bible, many of them are very obscure. I feel like the words in a Christian puzzle should remind you of a spiritual truth or an edifying story, not merely random names. Another plus would be to have all of the words for a puzzle come from one Bible passage.

+ + +

Bible Word Search - Free Word Find Puzzle Fun (Good)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: Agents of Tech, 2017

I like the variety of game modes in this app. You can play the standard word search game, opt to look for one word at a time, or play the timed version if you really want to challenge yourself. You can also choose which size your board is. In the above screenshot, I'm playing a standard game on a large grid. It's a fun, well-put-together game. My only complaint is that some of the words are too generic to remind you of anything in the Bible.

+ + +

Bible Word Search Puzzle Game (Good)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: Divine Trinity Apps, 2018

This is a fun word search game in which all of the words you're looking for will remind you of something in the Bible. There are three difficulty levels to play on, so you can set yourself for the challenge you want. There are also over 700 puzzles, enough for you to stay busy for quite a while. The ads at the bottom aren't too invasive, and the music isn't bad, either, so if you like word searches, give this one a try. It's free!

+ + +

Daily Bible Jigsaw (Good)
Play for free on FacebookAndroid, or iOS!

Platform: Brower (Facebook), Android, iOS
Publisher: Planet 316, 2017

This is a simple jigsaw puzzle game with limited appeal and limited game time. What I mean is that all of the puzzles are of the "cute" variety, are easy to complete, and only offer one puzzle per day. That being said, that might be great for some people. Personally, I would like more variety in the picture styles. What I do like about the game is that it presents each puzzle with a Bible verse and allows you to save the pictures and share them.

+ + +

The Game of the Bible (Good)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: GrupoAlamar, 2017

This is a simple kind of game that will have you thinking. You have to match tiles from one side of the screen to the other, but you can only do so if they're not surrounded. There are multiple ways to solve each puzzle, and they get more difficult as you progress in the game. With 125 levels, this app will keep you plenty busy. Plus, it's attractive and has pleasant sound effects and music. The only downside is that an ad will play after you complete each puzzle.

+ + +

God and Jesus Jigsaw Puzzles (Good)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: help7daysapps, 2018

This is a high-quality jigsaw puzzle game. The only downside is that you can't choose which puzzle you want to do until you unlock it by completing the puzzles that come before it. You can't even see the images that are coming up! And speaking of seeing the images, you can't refer back to the picture that you're trying to complete. Nor can you save your progress mid-puzzle.

+ + +

A Journey Towards Jesus (Good)

Platforms: Android
Publisher: Kupina.me, 2015

This trivia game gets high marks for including a story. You are accompanying a young man named Eliab to find Jesus so that he can ask Him to heal his sister. The quiz questions are fairly easy, and there are also some word scrambles and other simple puzzles mixed in for variety.

+ + +

Learning the Bible (Good)
Play for free!

Platforms: Android
Publisher: The city of the apps, 2015

This is a fairly simple trivia app, but I like it. It gives you the opportunity to choose which book and chapter of the Bible you want it to quiz you on. Then, you can read the chapter before you start to answer. If you get stuck, you can look at the text again. There are also two modes, a test in which you answer questions and see your results right away, or Exam Mode in which you answer a series of questions and see your score afterward. Exam Mode is also timed, but it's a very generous time limit. The only detraction from this game is that it's been translated from another language into English, so some of the phrasing can be a little awkward.

+ + +

MightyNoah Adventure Game (Good)
Play for free!

Platforms: Android
Publisher: Doroncreations Inc, 2018

This is a pretty fun reaction game. You swipe the ark left and right to avoid dangers and collect coins, health, and shields. The scenery and obstacles and varied and look great. The music adds to the sense of adventure. When the durability of your ark gets too low, you can either pay coins to restore it and keep going, or answer three trivia questions to keep going. You can also watch an ad, but there is no invasive advertising. I don't think this is a game that will keep your attention for long, but it's fun to try out and see how far you can get floating on the waters of the flood.

+ + +

Noah's Elephant in the Room (Good)

Play for free on Android or iOS!

Platform: Android, iOS
Publisher: Salvation's Story, 2017

Ride Noah's elephant through the Ark, avoiding Noah's sons, who are trying to ruin his good time. If you want to a boost, you can memorize Bible verses and upgrade your elephant. It's a fun game to play around with, but don't expect it to keep your attention for long. Thankfully, it doesn't have to since it's free to play.

Play the Jesus Bible Trivia Challenge Quiz Game (Good)
Platform: Android
Publisher: RD Games, 2018

Despite the awkward name, this trivia app is a cut above some of the others. You spin a dial to land on a category for each question. If you don't know an answer or want reinforcement, you can click to see the passage of Scripture referenced in the question. You're also on a time for each question, so that adds to the challenge, and the sound effects and animations make the game more addicting than most trivia games.

Airship Genesis: Pathway to Jesus (Fair)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: Turning Point for God, 2019

I really enjoy the concept of this game. Your time-traveling spaceship crash lands in Biblical times. Your goal is to find your missing shipmates and the power cells for the ship. Along the way, you and your companions discuss spiritual matters and witness Biblical events. The gameplay, however, is a bit tedious. You're confined to walk on certain paths and have to swipe for the character to take each step. It's supposed to be a puzzle to get around certain objects, but the puzzles aren't challenging at all, even for children.

+ + +

Bible Crossword (Fair)
Platform: Android
Publisher: Trevor Sinkala, 2014

This crossword puzzle has a variety of questions but could be seen as a little difficult. I would have liked to have seen more hints about where to find the answers. I did appreciate, however, that you can check your answers and see the correct solutions when you're finished with the puzzle.

+ + +

BibleMania - Christian Trivia (Fair)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: Notion Digital, 2018

This might sound counter-intuitive, but this app is too gamified. You earn points, have lives, and can buy coins that help you answer or skip difficult questions. The questions, however, are very easy, so you won't need most of the game's features if you're familiar with the Bible. If you're not familiar with the Bible, you're probably not going to be playing this game. One nice feature is that you can choose to read the verse that the question is based on after you submit your answer. There's are also a fair number of pop-up ads and an emphasis to watch advertising videos to get in-game perks. Overall, I wasn't impressed and wouldn't recommend spending too much time on this one.

+ + +

Bible Trivia Wheel - Bible Quiz Game (Fair)

Platform: Android
Publisher: DS Software, 2017

The presentation of this game isn't bad, but the focus on getting points is ridiculously distracting. It feels like you're only answering questions about a third of the time. The rest of the time, you're watching the wheel spin or your points add up, or dealing with a pop-up of some sort. Yes, you can skip all of those things, but that just makes the game too clicky. Over all, my opinion is that it doesn't put user experience first.

+ + +

Bible Word Cross (Fair)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: WePlay Games, 2018

Swipe the letters to make all the words that fit in the crossword grid. The letters then fill in Bible verses. It would be better, however, if the words had something to do with the Bible verse. It's also too easy of a game, so I lost interest fairly quickly.

+ + +

Christian Word Search (Fair)
Platform: Android
Publisher: Divine Trinity Apps, 2016

I like that there are different sizes of grids to choose from. You can select anywhere from a 6 x 5-letter grid to a 16 x 16-letter grid. The only reason I'm docking this game is that you can't see all of the words you're looking for at once. You have to scroll to see all of the words, and that's not very convenient to the player.

Guardian Light of the World (Fair)
Also known as GLOW
Purchase on Android or iOS

Platform: Android, iOS
Publisher: The Sanet Group, 2012

There isn't much Christian content to this game, and it does get a little bloody. You're a knight trying to recover the Ten Commandments for your kingdom (don't ask me how your kingdom got the Ten Commandments). There's a prayer of salvation you can read on the title screen, and the game is set up to say that you're fighting demons in your quest. You also gather Bibles as your powerups. Despite the thin Christian skin on this monster-hacker, my main complaint is that the movement and aiming are difficult to control.

+ + +

Holy Bible Quiz - Test Your Christian Faith Trivia (Fair)
Play for free!

Platforms: Android
Publisher: Interlock Purity Ltd, 2017

The questions in this trivia app are good, but it's lacking a lot of the functionality of other free quiz games you can play. First, there's no way to see the Scripture the question was taken from. You can narrow down your choices, but that doesn't help your learning much.

The only goal of the game is to get the highest score, and you can keep playing until you answer incorrectly three times. There are also a lot of pop-up ads that break up your gameplay without warning. I do appreciate the rotating artwork displayed behind the questions, but it would be better if the art went with the question. The text itself could also use a little polish with spaces inserted after commas.

+ + +

Jigsaw Puzzle - Jesus Jigsaw Christian Games (Fair)
Play for free!

Platforms: Android
Publisher: Mmit Racing & Puzzles, 2018

I like the music. I like that you can play in three different modes (Classic, Switch, and Slider). You can also choose how large to make your puzzle (from 3x3 to 7x7) and whether you want to challenge yourself with a timer or a move limit. The drawbacks are the popup ads, the fact that pieces overlap each other when you choose a large puzzle, and that you can't choose which puzzle to do. Also, you only get to look at the image for a few seconds before it breaks into its pieces.

+ + +

Moses Freedom Fighter (Fair)
Play for free on Android or iOS!

Platforms: Android, iOS
Publisher: Ayotree, 2016

This is a variety game with each of the seven levels representing a different event in Moses' life with a different style of gameplay. You'll experience everything from platforming to Tetris to boxing to aiming to gem-matching. The game is generally is well-done for a collection of mini-games.

+ + +

Paul's Mission (Fair)

Platform: Android
Publisher: LH Games, 2017

In this RPG Maker game, you play as Paul and experience some of his story. The townspeople quiz you on Bible knowledge, and you fight wild animals on your way from town to town. There are items to purchase and upgrades to make, but the whole game is rather simple and uses a lot of the default settings of the game engine. It didn't keep my interest for very long.

 + + +

Play the Bible Ultimate Verses (Fair)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: RD Games, 2016

This game isn't very challenging, but it is fun to play for a while. All you have to do is cover each letter of a word with the same color of tile, and you earn points. Powerups allow you to clear words more quickly. I like that you're reading the Bible verse as you play, and you get to test your memory after each level by filling in missing words. It's also fully voice acted, which is a nice touch. The one downside is that you have to give the company your email address or log in with Facebook, which feels a little shady. I can't think of a legitimate reason they need my information to play a free app.

 + + +

Puzzle Jesus Christ (Fair)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: Kaliash Dabhi, 2019

This is a sliding puzzle. You have to move the tiles around to get them in the correct order. You can choose to make your puzzle different sizes (from 3x3 up to 6x6). You start with one image and unlock others as you complete each stage. This is a very simple puzzle app that I would rate higher if it weren't for the high number of ads you have to watch. Basically, every time you press a button, a new ad pops up.

+ + +

True or False? (Bible Quiz) (Fair)

Platform: Android
Publisher: Christian Games, 2019

This app runs well and looks nice, but there are a couple of detractors for me. One is the fact that when you start the game and complete a level (every 10 questions), you get a pop-up ad. The other downside is that the questions are much too easy. If you're interested in playing this game, you probably already have a working knowledge of the Bible, and this game won't challenge you. It will, however, remind you of what you already know and would be a good review if it weren't for the ad interruptions. After every question, you can read the Bible verse the question is based on.

+ + +

BibleUP! Bible Riddles (Poor)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: Kupina.me, 2016

I was excited about this game but became quickly disappointed once I started playing. You choose a category, then type in your answers. In my playthrough, I was supposed to name 7 things that had to do with Jesus' birth. The nice thing is that it accepted "shepherd" for the answer it was looking for "Flock." But it did not accept quite a few of the answers I thought it would, including "angel," "Mary," "virgin," and "census." You can ask for a hint, but it will cost you coins, and do you know what they want you to do to get more coins? Watch ads. No, thanks. And with no way to know which correct answers will be accepted, I won't spend any more time with this one.

Bible Quiz (Poor)
Platform: Android
Publisher: Smart Quiz Apps, 2017

The only good things about this trivia game are that there are two game modes and that it runs well. The game modes are Endless and Timed. The Timed mode should add an element of excitement as you try to answer questions as quickly as possible, but it felt unfair because I could barely read the question and possible answers before my time ran out. The mix of questions also seems unfair as there are some very easy ones mixed in with those that are way too hard. There are also way too many advertisements.

+ + +

Bible Trivia Christian Quiz (Poor)

Platform: Android
Publisher: Quizzoulicious, 2018

I like the variety of questions in this game and the fact that there is an Endless and Timed mode to give you a choice of whether you want the extra challenge of racing against the clock or not, but there are way too many ads in this app to be enjoyable. I couldn't even click to start my first game before a video ad for another app started playing.

+ + +

Bible Trivia Game Free (Poor)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: Salem New Media, 2011

The one good point of this app is that whether you answer correctly or incorrectly, you can read the Bible reference to refresh your memory. On the downside, the questions are very difficult overall. Second, you only get to answer two or three questions before another pops up. Some you can exit out of right way, but others, you have to watch before you can close them. You can pay to not see the ads, but I would recommend skipping this one altogether.

+ + +

Gospel of John (Poor)

Platform: Android
Publisher: Stupid Brain, 2021

This app allows you to read through a somewhat illustrated story of the Gospel of John. The good thing is that the text is the Biblical story. The developers haven't added their own material. The bad thing is that the graphics do not match the characters in the story. In my screenshot above, you can see "Jesus" talking to his mother "Mary." The only interaction you have with the app is choosing which part to read next. It's a neat idea but poorly executed.

+ + +

Hidden Object - Psalms (Poor)

Platforms: Android
Publisher: Difference Games, 2017

There's a Bible verse on the screen and an instrumental melody of an old hymn, but I can't see the point of the objects you're supposed to find. They don't seem to have anything to do with the verse. Plus, every time you complete a level, there's an annoying pop-up ad. You also need to pay to unlock new levels. It might be worth it if the levels were challenging, but they're not. I can't recommend this game for anything more than the artwork.

+ + +

The Judges (Poor)

Platform: Android
Publisher: Stupid Brain, 2020

This seems like a working game concept, not a publishable game. You pretend to help the various judges by tapping a word or symbol on the screen to deal damage to the enemy in front of you. The problem I had was that the words/symbols didn't appear often enough for me to defeat the enemy with enough life left to face the next enemy.

+ + +

Mt. Doubt: christian solitaire game (Poor)

Platforms: Android
Publisher: kingdomgames, 2018

I feel like this game has potential, but it's not really playable yet. The graphics, sound, game interface are all very nice, but it's confusing to get started. When I finally understood what was happening, I realized that there was no strategy to the game. It all depends on the luck of the draw. You need to draw the right cards to match the Pray, Learn, Fellowship, and Serve points needed to overcome each doubt/temptation. Your points reset after each doubt, so you have to start over.

I could be missing something, but that's what I go out of my trial run with the game. I'd like to encourage the developer to keep working on it as I think this could be a very neat app.

+ + +

My Place with Jesus (Poor)

Platforms: Android
Publisher: It Is Written, 2018

This game has appealing graphics, but the wording of the teaching goes high above children's heads. There are other things to do, but the meat of the gameplay consists of filling in missing words in the Bible verses.

+ + +

Noah's Ark: Dash N' Splash (Poor)
Purchase on AndroidiOS, and the Microsoft Store

Platform: PC, Android, iOS
Publisher: JustinTime Studios, 2019

This 3D game shows good effort but needs a little more work. You play an intrepid Noah, getting ready for the Flood. You’ll meet his family as well as others in the world as you gather materials, solve puzzles, and explore the landscape.

+ + +

Soldier of God  (Poor but Promising)
Platform: Android, iOS
Publisher: M633 Games, 2019

Methinks this developer published too soon. Soldier of God has the building blocks of a great game, complete with smooth controls, nice graphics, and relevant teaching, but the world feels very empty at this point. You can fight demons in the field and take on quests, but combat consists of running into the enemy, and you don't get a choice of how to interact with an NPC. I'm going to keep my eye on this game for future updates. A couple of things I'd like to see is either smaller maps or more people, and a choice of what to say when you see someone. That way, you'd be able to practice how you might help someone.

  2. Wow this is a great collection! I have recently developed two games that no one has heard of.

One is CrossWord3D which has daily 3D crossword puzzles from Bible verses. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jarjarbits.CrossWord3D

The other is BibleSpeller which is a spelling bee game to learn the books of the Bible.

Not sure if you are still updating this collection but thanks for all the hard work putting this together!
