Children’s Sermon on the Angel’s Announcement to Mary

Children’s Sermon on the Angel’s Announcement to Mary

Use this children’s sermon on the angel appearing to Mary and announcing the birth of Jesus to teach children about God fulfilling His promises.

Scripture: Luke 1:26-38

Needed: a picture of Mary and Gabriel (included below)

Children’s Sermon: Ask children, has anyone you know ever broken a promise?

Have you ever broken a promise?

Do you know who has never broken a promise and never will? God!

God has made a lot of promises to people, and He’s never broken one. Sometimes, it seems like it takes Him a long time for God to fulfill His promise, but He always does.

Since the time of Adam and Eve, almost at the beginning of creation, God had been promising to send a Messiah to defeat sin and death. And years and years and years later, God sent Jesus to be that Messiah. He fulfilled His promise. The people had to wait a long time for Him to come, but He eventually did. God kept His promise to send the Messiah.

And God will always keep His promises. In fact, one of the things the angel Gabriel told Mary was…

(Read Luke 1:37, quoted here in the NIV.)

“No word from God will ever fail.’”

No word from God will ever fail. What God says always happens. If God says something, it comes true. And just like God promised to send Jesus the first time, Jesus promised to come back and take us to Heaven with Him someday. It seems like He’s been gone a long time, but remember, God will always keep His promises. We just have to wait.

Closing Prayer: Father God, we thank You that You always keep Your promises. We pray You would help us to remember we can trust You and believe in You as we wait patiently for You to fulfill Your promises to us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
