Ecclesiastes 5:2
“Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in Heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.”
I have literally done this verse in both the negative and positive way. I have told God “I won’t do this” or “I will do that”, all out of pride, arrogance, or fear! I have been quick to say something and then instantly regretted it more times than I would like to admit! But God is merciful, and He uses each and every opportunity to teach us and draw us into Him!
I have also done the opposite of this; I have been led by the Spirit to lay something down and let the Lord decide how it will go, and trust me, it’s a beautiful thing! It may not be easy at first, but I promise that if He calls you to do it, then He will see you through it! Rest in knowing His character and His abounding love for you!
I love the humility at the end of this verse; the writer basically says He is God – you are not –so know your place and respect and fear Him! Also. trust that He sees everything and will lead you down His path of love and righteousness with His mighty right hand! It’s not quite that bold, but that’s what I feel like the Holy Spirit impressed on me!
Matthew 5:37: All you need to say is simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
