Children’s Sermon on Romans 15 – Serving Others Like Jesus

Children’s Sermon on Romans 15 – Serving Others Like Jesus

Use this children’s sermon to teach children to have the serving attitude of Jesus.

Scripture: Romans 15

Needed: a cartoon picture of Jesus (included)

Children’s Sermon: Show your picture of Jesus and ask, Who is this a picture of? (Jesus!)

Right! And I thought we would review a few stories about Jesus. Tell me if I get these stories correct.

The first story is about when Jesus went to a wedding, and the people ran out of wine. Jesus wanted more wine to drink, so He told the bride and groom to stop their wedding celebration and go buy Him some more wine. Is that what Jesus did?

No. When the people ran out of wine, He turned water into wine for them!

Here’s the second story: Do you remember when a man who couldn’t walk asked Jesus for help, and Jesus said, “If you pay Me a lot of money, I’ll heal you?” Is that what Jesus said?

No. Jesus healed the man and didn’t have to be paid for it. In fact, He healed lots of people just because He loved them and wanted to help them.

Here’s the third story: The night Jesus was arrested, He and His disciples were eating their final meal together, and Jesus’ feet were dirty, so He made Peter wash His feet. Is that what happened?

No. Jesus washed the disciples’ feet. He never asked anyone to wash His feet.

Our Scripture passage today says…

(Read Romans 15:8-9, quoted here in the NIV.)

“For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy.”

These Bible verses tell us Jesus was a servant to other people. He served them. And as followers of Jesus, we should try to serve other people too. We should help them and do things that make them happy. Then, they can glorify God for sending you to help them, just like we glorify God for sending Jesus to help us.

Right now, I want you to think of one person you can serve.

Closing Prayer: Jesus, we pray that You help us to be more like You. Help us to serve other people with a good attitude, to help them, not to get anything for ourselves. Amen.
