2 Samuel 6 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

2 Samuel 6:5

David and all Israel were celebrating with all their might before the LORD, with castanets, harps, lyres, timbrels, sistrums and cymbals.

2 Samuel 6:14,15- Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the LORD with all his might, while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the LORD with shouts and the sound of trumpets.

We see David’s heart for worshipping the LORD and the depth at which he did it! What we may not know is that between these verses, a choice was made that had tragic consequences. Uzzah reached out and touched the Ark of God , which was forbidden, and the LORD struck him down. The Bible tells us that David was angry and then afraid, yet his worship does not change because of what happened. David may have been upset, confused, or worried, but he did not let that change how he worshipped his God. Can we say the same?

David knew that regardless of what happened, God was and is still good and worthy of all praise! Is our worship conditional? There are going to be many things we don’t agree with or understand, but none of that changes Who God is or how we should worship Him. Introvert or extrovert doesn’t matter; what matters is, are we worshipping God with all of our might and with all of our hearts? Or do we allow circumstances, surroundings, or others determine how we praise our LORD?

Do we worship like He is watching? Because He is! Next time we meet for corporate worship, let’s keep our hearts and minds focused on Who paid for us, what He paid for us, and the victory He gave us, and let’s see if that doesn’t take us a little deeper in our worship of Him! Thank You, Jesus !

2 Samuel 6:21,22- David said to Michal, “It was before the LORD, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the LORD’s people Israel—I will celebrate before the LORD. I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor.”

God bless! I love you all, but His love is worthy of all praise! Praise, glory, and honor now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
