Children’s Sermon on Revelation 3 – Letter to Sardis – Jesus is Proud to Know Us!

Children’s Sermon on Revelation 3 – Letter to Sardis – Jesus is Proud to Know Us!

Use this children’s sermon on Jesus’ letter to the church in Sardis to teach children what it means for Jesus to acknowledge us to God the Father.

Scripture: Revelation 3:1-6

Needed: nothing

Children’s Sermon: (You could substitute this hypothetical scenario with a personal example.) Say, Imagine your parents make you have a playdate with another boy or girl that you don’t like very much. If you don’t like that other person, would you be excited to introduce them to your other friends? Would you say, “This is my friend _” if he or she really isn’t your friend?

Probably not. You wouldn’t be excited to be with them. You wouldn’t be excited to introduce them to your other friends. You probably wouldn’t even call them your friend.

But if you were friends with someone, would you be excited to be with them and introduce them to your other friends? Of course, you would!

And Jesus says He will do the same thing with us. If we have been faithful to Him, He will be excited to tell God the Father and the angels that we’re His friend. He might take us around Heaven and tell everyone, “This is one of My followers! They were faithful to Me and did such a good job! I’m so proud of them, and I’m so happy they’re here with Me now!”

Closing Prayer: Jesus, we thank You that we can be Your friend. Help us to be a good friend to You so that You will be excited to see us one day. Amen.
