What Makes Jesus Want to Throw Up? - Children's Sermon on Revelation 3 - Letter to Laodicea

Children’s Sermon on Revelation 3 – Letter to Laodicea – What Makes Jesus Want to Throw Up?

Use this children’s sermon on Jesus spitting the Laodiceans out of His mouth to show children the passion Jesus wants us to have for ministry.

Scripture: Revelation 3:14-22

Needed: nothing

Children’s Sermon: Ask kids, What is your least favorite food, the food that if you had to eat it would make you gag and throw up? (Let the kids have fun sharing their least favorite foods. Share your least favorite food as well.)

Jesus says His least favorite thing, the thing that makes Him want to throw up, is people who are helping other people but don’t really want to be helping other people. Listen to what He says:

(Read Revelation 3:15-16, quoted here in the NIV.)

“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”

Jesus says He knows what the church is doing, but they’re not excited about the work they’re doing, and it makes Jesus want to spit them out of His mouth. Let’s pray this morning that Jesus will help us to be excited about doing His good work so that He will be pleased with us.

Closing Prayer: Jesus, we thank You for using us to help others. Please make us excited and passionate about the good things we can do. Amen.
