2 Chronicles 19 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

2 Chronicles 19:6,7

He told them, “Consider carefully what you do, because you are not judging for mere mortals but for the LORD, who is with you whenever you give a verdict. Now let the fear of the LORD be on you. Judge carefully, for with the LORD our God, there is no injustice or partiality or bribery.”

Jehoshaphat’s words still apply to us today! These judges had been called/appointed to their position, but there were still rules to follow and guidelines set before them. He both warns them and encourages them at the same time. He tells them to consider carefully their ways, as they are not serving man but God and that God has a standard by which He does things, and those of us that serve Him must adhere to the same standard.

But that’s one of the most beautiful things about our God, His fairness across the board. All have sinned, all have fallen short, and yet all can be saved! He doesn’t exclude people or change the rules halfway through the game but rather lays it all out upfront with the desire that we will come to repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ!

We who follow Him must carry and conduct ourselves the same way. We, like these judges, have been called to be His and appointed to serve in His Kingdom. We must remember that the way we conduct ourselves reflects directly upon Him. It doesn’t change Him or taint Him, but it may change or taint someone’s view of Him. We are to be living examples of the love of Jesus Christ, not hypocritical counterfeits.

One more thing: Jehoshaphat tells the judges that when they give a verdict, God is with them. So, in essence, he is saying that when they carry out what they have been called to do, God is with them, and the same is true for us today! He has called us to be His ministers of reconciliation and to share all that He is with all that we are. Will we do that today? He is with us!

Ecclesiastes 1:9- What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.

2 Corinthians 5:18-20- All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

God bless! I love you all, but His love broke the grave and set us free! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
