2 Chronicles 29 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

2 Chronicles 29:1-3

Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Abijah daughter of Zechariah. He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father David had done. In the first month of the first year of his reign, he opened the doors of the temple of the LORD and repaired them.

I love Hezekiah’s heart and the urgency he shows through the actions he takes to serve and honor the LORD. He is in power for less than a month, and he begins to repair and reopen the Temple. He got to work; will we? He is a man of faith, and a man of faith must also be a man of action – not actions born of flesh but of the Spirit!

Though he is young, Hezekiah knows what is right and seeks to walk in it. He doesn’t let his age, his position, the state of the nation around him, or even his own family determine who he is or who he is going to serve. He makes a bold statement about Who he is going to serve, and it’s not the idols of some of the kings before him but the only Living God, Creator of Heaven and earth.

Hezekiah was a man just like us, and though the sin of idolatry clung to his family, he did not surrender to it but to the Lord God Almighty! He stood up in the faith – for himself, for his family, and for His God.

2 Timothy 1:5- I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

God bless! I love you all, but His love feeds the longing heart! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
