Isaiah 14 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Isaiah 14:32

What answer shall be given to the envoys of that nation? “The LORD has established Zion, and in her His afflicted people will find refuge.”

Are you afflicted today? Under attack from the enemy? Besieged by your own flesh and sinful desires? Are members of your own family or church coming against you? Is the failure of your past clinging to you today? Does the fear of tomorrow stop you in your tracks? Is the stress of today choking the life out of you?

If so, then rejoice and rest in the fact God wants you to run to Him in these times. He is our refuge in the storm, the only place we can run to and be safe. He doesn’t promise us easy, but He does promise us His faithfulness and availability. We need a refuge, and we need to know Who He is! Our God tells us repeatedly in the Scriptures that He is our refuge, our fortress, our Rock, and our firm foundation. If we didn’t need to know this, then why would He repeat it? He knows that we not only need to know this important truth but that in times of trouble, testing. and temptation, we can easily forget it. We can take our eyes off Him and place them firmly on the problem.

The problem with focusing on the problem is we often miss the Problem Solver, God Almighty! Throughout my life, I have sought refuge in drugs, pride, sex, and many other empty things, but it wasn’t till I found my refuge in God that my life felt secure! He is the One who saved me and keeps me secure. My strength is nothing more than a light drizzle compared to His hurricane! He is above us, yet He came to be with us and to save us from our sins! Thank You, Jesus, for You will always be more than enough for me!

Where are you seeking refuge today?

Psalm 18:2- The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Psalm 57:1- Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by.

God bless! I love you all, but His love is a refuge for broken people like me! Praise, glory, and honor now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
