Jeremiah 6 Devotions by Stephen Taylor

Jeremiah 6:16

This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’”

The ancient way comes from the Ancient of Days! Our God and what He desires has not and will not change. Be encouraged! He isn’t fickle or finite like us, He doesn’t discard us at the first sign of trouble, but through His Spirit, He corrects us and draws us closer to Himself.

Who am I that the God Almighty would allow me to come to His table? Who am I that the Holy One would call me by the name He gave me? Who am I that the perfect One would give His life to save a wretch like me? This God, this Messiah, is beyond our comprehension yet not beyond our reach! He has made Himself available to all and desires for each one of us to come to saving faith in Jesus Christ!

This verse speaks of a crossroad, and each one of us will face this choice; some may even face it today. The ultimate crossroad is the choice of life in the Spirit or death in the flesh, yet we are not called to make this decision without being informed. It says to stand and look, and while you are looking, ask! Our God wouldn’t tell us to ask if He didn’t intend to inform us of the proper way to go! So as we stand at this crossroad, and the world with its lies swirls about us, we can ask in confidence which way to go and know that He will provide the way!

Jesus Christ is the only way. The path has been cut out of the Rock and is laid before us this day. Will we come, look and ask, finding rest for our souls and a fullness this world can’t drain! This same Jesus that saved me can and will save you too. You need only to come and lay yourself, your life, and your sins down at His feet. Will you come in surrender today?

Matthew 11:28-30- “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

God bless! I love you all, but His love leads us at the crossroad of life and death into life in Him! Glory, honor, and praise now and forever to Papa God, Jesus Christ our King, and the Holy Spirit!
