Having Faith Like Jesus – Children’s Sermon on Jesus Calming the Storm

Having Faith Like Jesus – Children’s Sermon on Jesus Calming the Storm - Luke 8:22-25

Needed: Nothing

Scripture: Luke 8:22-25

Children’s Sermon: Ask students, Is it ever hard for you to sleep at night?

What makes it difficult to sleep?

Do you ever wake up when there’s a storm outside and it’s thundering and lightning and blowing strong winds and raining hard?

The disciples of Jesus were in a storm like that once, but they weren’t in a house. They were on a boat.

(Read Luke 8:22-25.)

Were the disciples afraid of the storm? (Yes.)

Was Jesus afraid of the storm? (No.)

Jesus kept right on sleeping until the disciples woke Him up and asked for help. Why do you think Jesus wasn’t afraid of the storm?

Jesus had faith in God that God would take care of Him, so even though He was in a big storm, He wasn’t afraid.

If we have faith in God, we can go through things in life and not be afraid either, because we know that whatever happens, God will take care of us.

If you don’t want to be afraid, be like Jesus and have faith in God.

Closing Prayer: Father, we thank You that we can always trust You to take care of us. Help us to faith in You and not be afraid. Amen.
