Why Do We Say "Amen" When We Pray? Children's Sermon

Why Do We Say "Amen" When We Pray? Children's Sermon

Needed: Nothing

Scripture: Psalm 106:48

Children's Sermon: Ask students, When you pray, do you ever end your prayer by saying, "Amen"?

Do you ever hear other people say "Amen" when they're finished praying?

Why do people say that? What does "Amen" mean?

Read (Psalm 106:48)

"Amen" means, "So be it," or , "I agree." So if someone prays, and we agree with their prayer or what they said, we can say "Amen" to show we think they're right in what they prayed or in what they said.

Let's practice doing that. If anyone has any prayer requests, you can share them with the group, and then we'll all say "Amen" to show we agree with your prayer.

Who has something they would like us to pray for? (Lead students and the church in responding "Amen" to prayer requests, then lead an appropriate prayer to close.)
