Nehemiah Children's Sermon - Working Together
Use this Nehemiah children's sermon to teach children about working together as the Body of Christ.
Needed: Nothing
Scripture: The Book of Nehemiah
Children's Sermon: Ask, How many of you have chores at home?
What are some of the chores that you have to do?
Those are all good chores. When we do chores, it makes it so that everyone in our family is helping and working together and doing their part to keep things nice and clean.
It kind of reminds me of how the Israelites had to work together in the book of Nehemiah. The Israelites had been away from home, in another country, for a long time. When they finally came back to Israel, their houses were broken down and the wall around the main city of Jerusalem was broken down.
But the book of Nehemiah tells us that all the Israelites worked together to rebuild the wall. (Manuever kids to stand in a line facing the congregation as you say this next part.) While one person (first kid) was rebuilding this part of the wall,
their neighbor (second kid) rebuilt this part. Then the third person
(third kid) rebuilt this part and (continue with as many kids as you
have).
So they all worked together, each of them doing their part, to rebuild the wall.
And
that's how it is in our families and in our church. If we all work
together and do our part, then we can build something great for God.
Let's pray about that.
Closing prayer: God, we thank You for giving us all things that we can do to
help. We pray that You will help us all work together and do our part so
that we can do great things for You. Amen.
