Children’s Sermon on Romans 11:33-36 – Trusting God without Knowing the Details of His Plan
Use this children’s sermon on God’s wisdom to show kids they can trust God even when they don’t know His plans.
Scripture: Romans 11
Needed: a picture of you working, if applicable
Children’s Sermon: Ask children, Who here has a parent or someone else who takes care of you who goes to work or works from home?
Almost everyone! (Show a picture of you working if you have one.)
It’s important for adults to work, isn’t it? That way, they can make money and buy the things we need. Our parents or other people who take care of us can be good to us because they work and earn money.
But do you know exactly what your parent or caregiver does at work? Do you know the details of what they do all day?
You don’t know exactly what they’re doing because you’re not always there watching them. You can’t see what they’re doing. But you can trust they’re working to earn money to take care of you.
It’s the same with us and God. We don’t know everything God is doing. He doesn’t give us the details of His plan or tell us everything He does. But we can trust that God is working for our good.
Here’s something the Apostle Paul says about God…
(Read Romans 11:33-36, quoted here in the NIV.)
“Oh,
the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?’
‘Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay them?’
For from him and through him and for him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.”
Paul is telling us that even though we don’t know all the details of what God is doing, we can trust that God is wise enough to always do things in the best way.
Closing Prayer: Father God, we thank You for being a good and loving and wise God for us. We pray that You will help us to trust You in every circumstance and know that You are doing things in the best way. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
