Children’s Sermon on Romans 10:9-10 – Believing in Your Heart and Confessing with Your Mouth

Children’s Sermon on Romans 10:9-10 – Believing in Your Heart and Confessing with Your Mouth

Use this children’s sermon on salvation to teach kids what it means to really believe in Jesus.

Scripture: Romans 10

Needed: a picture of someone you love, or have that person with you

Children’s Sermon: Ask children, Who here has someone they love?

Who do you love? (Listen to and affirm their answers.)

One of the persons I love is _. (Show your picture or point to the person.)

How do you know you love someone? (Many good answers here.)

I know I love _ because I feel love for _ in my heart. My heart tells me I love them.

But what if someone asked me, “Do you love _?” and I said no? Does it sound like I love _ if I tell someone I don’t love _?

If you love someone, you should feel it in your heart and be proud to tell other people you love that person. And that’s what God wants from us.

The Apostle Paul says…

(Read Romans 10:9-10, quoted here in the NIV.)

If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

God wants us to believe in our heart and confess with our mouth, and we will be saved. We believe in Jesus in our heart, and then we show we really mean it by saying we believe in Jesus with our mouth.

Closing Prayer: Father God, we thank You for sending Jesus to die for us and raising Him from the dead. Help us to believe in You from our hearts and to be proud we say we believe in You with our mouths. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
